The Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) is pleased to announce that Alana Baker has been promoted to Vice President, Policy & Public Affairs.
Alana has been with HAC for just under four successful years, previously holding the positions of Director of Government Relations and Senior Director of Policy & Public Affairs. Collaborative and results-driven, Alana is a trusted advisor to HAC’s members, industry partners and government. In her new role, she will continue to provide first class service, ensuring that the concerns of hoteliers are heard at the most senior levels of government and driving advocacy programs to build good public policy for Canada’s hotels.
Alana has over 15 years of experience spearheading award-win-ning national advocacy, communications and media campaigns. A recipient of the PR News “Top 15-to-Watch “ award, over her career Alana has been instrumental in providing government affairs and public relations advice to senior association executives in Canada and the United States.
At HAC, Alana has successfully led the Association’s Fair Rules campaign to level the playing field with digital short-term rental providers like Airbnb. This has recently resulted in a commit-ment from the Federal Government in the 2020 Fall Economic Statement to apply the sales tax to all platform-based short-term rental accommodation supplied in Canada. During an unprecedented health crisis, Alana continues to be an integral part of the team, advocating to secure critical COVID-19 relief and support for the industry.
Please join us in congratulating Alana on her new role and her continued success!
