We’re hiring! Proof Strategies is seeking two motivated candidates to join our government relations practices in Ottawa and Toronto as our newest Consultant and Senior Consultant.

The ideal candidates have experience in government and understand how policy is formed, influenced and implemented. We only hire team players and look for strategic thinkers who want to become trusted advisors to our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with teammates in handling day-to-day client government relations business
  • Develop advocacy and communications strategies
  • Measure effectiveness of client activities
  • Provide counsel to clients on stakeholder relations
  • Advise on issues and crisis management
  • Prepare written materials, such as policy analyses, brief preparations, speeches, budget and government communication reviews
  • Assist in producing and managing client events and program, including on-site coordination at client events
  • Provide media training and spokesperson preparation, including for government committee appearances
  • Manage client accounts and budgets
  • Develop new business opportunities

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong written communications skills are essential.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with legislators and their staff, bureaucrats, the media and stakeholders.
  • Must understand how government policy is formed, influenced and implemented.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Demonstrated passion for learning and growth in new areas.
  • Strong project management skills, with an eye for detail and an ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks and competing priorities, manage the day-to-day execution of programs.
  • Education in communications, politics, public policy, journalism or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism and previous experience in government are also considered assets.
