Your role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Public Affairs, in the Strategy and Public Affairs group, you ensure that Canadians, directly and through other media, have timely, accurate information about CBCB/Radio Canada, its objectives, and its activities.  Your work enhances the Corporation’s reputation and helps Canadians see the value of their public broadcaster.

As corporate spokesperson, you are the public face of the Corporation in dealing with media.  You build positive, professional relationships with journalists, responding effectively to media inquiries, and finding opportunities to profile our story, strategy and plans.

You are an experienced media professional who monitors and analyzes developments in order to plan effective communications strategies.  You advise senior leadership accordingly.  You use social media and understand when and how to be part of social conversations.

You can identify opportunities and issues, and implement the most effective strategy for action.  you will ensure coordination with the media relations departments of our English and French services.  You will support the Senior Executive Team so that messages are consistent and effective across the Corporation.

You are an expert communicator who thrives in an often fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a relevant field of study.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in communications, media and/or public relations.
  • Proven experience managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Bilingual (English and French). Oral and comprehension are mandatory.  Exceptionally strong writing skills in at least one official language required.
  • Ability to manage staff and direct those both above and below you in the organization.
  • Exceptional tact, diplomacy, and sound judgement.
