Tax-Filer Empowerment Canada (TFEC) is a 9-member national industry association comprised of Canada’s leading tax preparation and software firms.
Formed in 2018, TFEC was created to promote greater collaboration between government stakeholders such as the Canada Revenue Agency, elected officials, the tax preparation and software industry, and Canadians. TFEC unites leading tax software developers and tax preparers to speak with one voice in Ottawa and across the country, to offer Canadians impartial, accurate and accessible tax filing options.
The Opportunity
TFEC is seeking a part-time, contract Executive Director that reports to the Association’s Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible for TFEC’s administrative operations including facilitating Board decision-making, organizing Board meetings, and managing all aspects of TFEC’s budgetary and legal requirements. The Executive Director is accountable for leading TFEC’s government relations strategy through implementing the following key elements:
- Developing and maintaining strategic working relationships with senior officials in key government departments and agencies, along with elected representatives and political staff;
- Crafting and effectively conveying policy recommendations that align with government priorities and support the competitiveness and sustainability of the tax preparation and software industry;
- Representing TFEC with external stakeholder groups such as chambers of commerce, public policy institutes, media, and other industry associations in order to raise positive awareness of the Association along with the broader tax preparation and software industry; and,
- Building further industry consensus by growing TFEC’s membership base.
Qualifications
You are a seasoned, high-performing government relations/public affairs leader that is ready to lead a new national industry association that has made significant strides in its early days and has charted an ambitious path forward. With your advanced negotiation skills and deep knowledge of public policy development, you have demonstrated success in helping to shape government policy in a collaborative and constructive manner.
You have a strategic mindset and roll-up-your-sleeves approach that will enable you to identify and capitalize on opportunities for TFEC to further enhance its partnerships with key government stakeholders and its leadership role within Canada’s tax preparation and software industry.
