Headquartered in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Xplornet Communications Inc. is one of Canada’s leading broadband service providers. For over a decade, Xplornet has been providing innovative broadband solutions to rural customers at work, home and play across Canada – connecting them to what matters.

Manager, Corporate Affairs

Representing your organization in front of an audience and articulating its vision comes naturally to you.  Ideally, you have a background in government, either as a public servant or working for an elected official.  You have a strong understanding of all three levels of government and the mechanics of how they function, and have an interest in the political process and how it impacts industries such as telecommunications. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader to help shape the direction of Xplornet’s corporate identity.

What you will do:

  • Tell our story and maintain relationships with all levels of government, identifying opportunities to influence public policy, and enhance Xplornet’s reputation with relevant stakeholders;
  • Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and other public forums;
  • Monitor and assess new opportunities to work with governments at all levels to expand broadband services throughout rural Canada;
  • Support the broader Xplornet team in the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns, and responding to similar issues when they arise; and
  • Work across the organization to troubleshoot and manage issues and inquiries, and identify opportunities to improve relations with our external stakeholders.

What you need to succeed:

  • At least 5 years of experience either in the public sector or in a government relations capacity;
  • Knowledge of the municipal, provincial, and federal government landscape, and a general understanding of Xplornet’s public policy objectives in this environment;
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong writing skills, and the ability to speak convincingly to external audiences on behalf of the company, ideally in both official languages;
  • Experience interfacing with senior executives and public servants, as well as elected officials such as Members of Parliament; and
  • A background in project management and project reporting is highly desirable, or transferable experience to support monitoring compliance with public agreements;
