Saint Mary’s University aspires to engage all Santamarians in a global experience.

Over the past two decades, Saint Mary’s has built a solid foundation of support and a growing reputation for a comprehensive international student experience in a safe, respectful environment for learning and personal growth. In keeping with Saint’s Mary’s strategic plan 2017-2022, there is a tremendous opportunity to further enhance pan-campus and global linkages and provide all students who attend the University with an immersive intercultural experience.

Reporting to the President and Vice Chancellor, the Senior Strategist Global & Intercultural Affairs provides leadership, momentum and enhanced visibility to Saint Mary’s global outreach and intercultural goals by championing existing programs and initiatives, facilitating new opportunities for pan-campus collaboration and enhancing the University’s international reputation and stature. Specifically, the Senior Strategist Global & Intercultural Affairs:

  • Encourages the extensive campus community already engaged in global and intercultural endeavours
  • Works collaboratively with faculty, staff and students to foster a vibrant intercultural campus

  • Builds and maintains a network of key contacts and strategic relationships with local, national and international partners, associations and private and public organizations
  • Acts as ambassador and official contact with agencies, NGOs, multinational agencies and embassies

The Senior Strategist is the catalyst to ensure that Saint Mary’s can deliver on the University’s explicit commitment to globalization and intercultural experience, communicating the vision to internal and external audiences and reinforcing the importance of the intercultural exchange of ideas and experiences. As a member of the Senior Management Team, the incumbent is a champion for global and intercultural learning and will develop strategies and opportunities to promote global citizenship.
