Vice-President, CMA Media – Canadian Medical Association

Vice-President, CMA Media - Canadian Medical Association

Ottawa

The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) unites physicians who believe in a better future of health.

As the national voice of Canada’s physicians and physicians-in-training, the CMA’s goal is to improve health, the health system, and the health workforce. It drives change through advocacy, giving, and thought leadership – guided by values of collaboration and inclusion.

Recognizing that Canadians are increasingly consuming news differently, the CMA created CMA Media to enhance its ability to inform, co-create, and engage with patients/the public and the medical community, and to produce and disseminate trusted health system news and information in various forms.

As the Vice-President and Head of CMA Media, you will play an integral leadership role in advancing the above-noted priorities, fostering an environment that allows for deeper engagement with the work of the CMA. You will establish, manage, and support a vast network of medical influencers to expand reach and information sharing, strengthening the collective voice of the medical profession.

Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, Communications, and working collaboratively with colleagues, you will oversee social media channels, ensuring that trusted health system content, news, and information reach a broad audience. Working closely with staff and external suppliers, you will develop dissemination strategies, lead CMA’s social media conversation, and leverage all platforms to inform and engage English and French audiences across the country. You will also establish and manage key partnerships to support health reporting in Canada, which may include funding journalism positions, internships, mentoring programs for reporters as well as programs designed to make physicians and patients more effective storytellers and content producers.

As the ideal candidate, you have a broad base of omni-channel journalism expertise, and are recognized by your peers as an innovative, tech-savvy, big-picture strategist who delivers results. You are an authentic and inspiring leader with a service orientation and a record of building, mentoring, and supporting exceptional teams. An experienced agent of change, you create an environment that encourages flexibility, creativity, risk-taking, and continuous improvement. You are a natural relationship builder who can effectively influence, facilitate, and foster exceptional working relationships with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders. Your in-depth knowledge of content creation, social media, community building, and mobilization will serve you well, as will your ability to communicate effectively in both official languages.
