Mr. Johnson is the Assistant Deputy Minister, Financial Sector Policy Branch, Finance Canada. Previously he held distinguished senior roles at the Bank of Canada, with his most recent position being Advisor to the Governor. In this role, he provided advice on monetary policy operations and balance sheet management, the Bank of Canada’s fiscal agent activities, and participated in international and domestic capital market forums. He also chaired the Bank’s Pension Fund Investment Committee.
Since its establishment in 1998 as a non-profit organization, Toronto Centre has trained over 23,000 central bankers and financial supervisors globally to become change agents for building more stable and inclusive financial systems. Its mission is supported by Global Affairs Canada, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and the International Monetary Fund.
