Valeant Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Richard Lajoie to the position of President of Valeant Canada.

Richard Lajoie was born in Shawinigan, Québec and left after college to pursue his academic and professional life across Canada, the United States and Europe. He has been recognized over the last 15 years as an inspirational and creative leader with a strong capacity to build performing teams.

Since 2013, Richard has led the Pharma Business as Vice-President at Valeant Canada. In that role, he directed a significant reorganization, many new launches and several successful business development agreements. Prior to Valeant, Richard spent 12 years with Novartis Pharmaceuticals in different roles of increasing responsibilities, including Sales, Marketing, Government Affairs and Medical. His career took him to Montreal, Calgary and Copenhagen, where he led the business in Denmark, Norway and Iceland as General Manager for Novartis Oncology.

Richard holds a B.Sc. and Executive MBA from Sherbrooke University, a Management diploma from HEC Business School in Montreal and has also obtained an Executive Marketing certification at the Columbia Business School in New York and an Executive Finance Certification from Harvard Business School in Boston.

In addition to his current role, Richard is still active in his hometown as a board member and Co-Owner of the Shawinigan Cataractes in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Richard proudly contributes to the team’s aspiration of winning championships and developing NHL level players, and is committed to supporting players throughout their academic endeavours to mold them into responsible and educated citizens.

Valeant Canada is a subsidiary of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc., a multinational speciality pharmaceutical company that strives to improve peoples’ lives through it healthcare products. Mr. Lajoie’s appointment to the role of President took effect July 1.
